Travel Tips

Passports

According to italia.it, visitors may enter Italy with a passport valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure. Therefore, if your passport expires prior to November 2025 it should be renewed before your vacation.

However, if you plan to travel to other countries, please research the travel requirement. Most often, passports must be valid for at least six months after the planned date of departure. For this reason, we recommend traveling with a passport that expires after at least February of 2026.

VISAS

*UPDATE: ETIAS have been postponed to 2026 so you do not have to worry about attaining these- they are no longer needed to travel this year! Click here for more information

Additionally, REAL ID's are needed for domestic travel only and are not needed for international travel.

Communication

When traveling to Italy, we recommend downloading the following apps:

➡WhatsApp: to communicate with services such as restaurants, hotels, tours/excursions

➡Google Translate: to navigate the language

➡itTaxi & FreeNow: to call taxis/cabs when Uber may not be available

Guests should also review their cell phone plans for rules on international data, texting, and calls.

Payment

USD will not be accepted abroad. Visa credit cards are most widely accepted in comparison to American Express or Discover.

➡Bring cash- before leaving the US, go to your bank and convert cash from USD to EURO

➡Ensure that your credit card does not charge an "international fee" or have a high exchange rate and has a chip

Packing

Remember to bring power adapters so that you can plug in any electronic chargers, hair tools, shavers, etc. Italy, and most of Europe, uses Type C adapters. Click below to purchase from Amazon:

When to Arrive

For international weddings, it is typically recommended for guests to arrive in the country where the wedding is at least one full day prior to settle in and get their bearings, not to mention to prevent any travel delays or mishaps. A destination wedding is a vacation and the wedding is just one part of it, give yourself enough time before and after to not feel rushed.
