Which airport should I fly into?

Milan Malpensa (MXP) is the closest airport to Bellagio. MXP is about 45 minutes outside of central Milan.

How do I get from Milan to Bellagio?

Depending on your vacation plans, there are two areas in Milan that you can travel from:


Option 1: Directly from MXP Airport to Bellagio

*This is the best option for those who wish to start their trip in Lake Como

or

Option 2: From Central Milan to Bellagio

*This is the best option for those who plan to spend time in the city of Milan or other areas of Italy before coming to Lake Como.


You can travel from Milan to Bellagio by car or by train+ferry.

Traveling by Car:

You can rent a car, call a taxi/Uber or arrange for private transportation from Milan directly to Bellagio. Driving is recommended for guests with small children or walking restrictions.

If you decide to rent a car, please inquire with your hotel on the best parking options. Everything in Bellagio is walkable and a car is not needed to get around the town.

Please note that there are not many taxi/Uber options in Bellagio and it may be difficult to rely on this method. Arranging transportation in advanced is preferred.

Traveling by Train + Ferry

You can take a train from Milan to Varenna, followed by a ferry from Varenna to Bellagio.

Varenna- Esino Station is the closest train station to Bellagio and is located in the town of Varenna. Varenna is a 15 minute ferry ride to Bellagio.

Option 1:
From: MXP -> change in Milano Centrale -> To: Varenna-Esino + Ferry from Varenna to Bellagio
Duration: 2.5 hours train + 15 minute ferry
or
Option 2:
From: Milano Centrale -> To: Varenna-Esino + Ferry from Varenna to Bellagio
Duration: 1 hour train + 15 minute ferry

Ferry tickets from Varenna to Bellagio can be purchased when you arrive in Varenna at the Varenna ferry station. The ferry station is a 10 minute walk downhill from Varenna-Esino. Please note that this walk includes cobblestone and multiple steps that may be difficult for those traveling with strollers or walking restrictions.

Can I travel to Bellagio without coming from Milan?

Traveling from Milan is the easiest way to reach Bellagio. However, with research and/or a travel advisor, it is possible to travel to and from Bellagio from other destinations.

When making alternative travel plans, please keep in mind that the wedding will be in Bellagio. Lake Como is very large and transportation can become difficult. To avoid this, we are recommending that all guests stay in Bellagio on the night of the welcome party and wedding.
